POISON HARVEST

HARMFUL PESTICIDES

Painting by Brooke Fischer

Date

2026

Pesticides such as paraquat, glyphosate, and atrazine pose grave risks to human health, being linked to cancer and serious illnesses. Despite these known dangers, their use has been approved by the government, even with awareness of their severe health consequences.

Beyond human health, these pesticides have devastating effects on critical pollinators, such as bees and butterflies. These creatures play a vital role in agricultural ecosystems by facilitating the pollination of crops. The widespread use of these chemicals leads to habitat destruction and a decline in pollinator populations, threatening the production of food and the stability of ecosystems.

Raising awareness about these issues is essential for advocating safer agricultural practices and promoting the use of eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the harmful impacts of these pesticides encourages informed decision-making and supports efforts to protect both human health and biodiversity.

We should always be advocate for our own health. Shop at local farmers markets. Wash all all of your produce before consuming.
